The 15 A brushless controller from Skywing has a small size of 27 x 14 x 5.5 mm and only 12 g weight. It can be used with LiPo batteries from 2s to 4s or NiMH batteries from 5 to 12 cells. The controller supports 2.4 A current at 5 V voltage from its switch BEC. Programmable choices are motor break for folding props, the cut-off voltage and cut-off mode, timing, soft start, motor direction and two helicopter modes. For more comfortable programming, an optional jumper programming card can be used. The PCB is equipped with high quality SMD parts and protected by a shrink tube. The cables are durable and flexible due to the silicone insulation which can stand temperatures up to 200 °C. On the battery side, the ESC is equipped with an original Amass XT30 plug and on the motor side, it has 3.5 mm gold sockets. For more safety, the controller has a overheat safety feature. If the temperature reaches 110 °C, the power output current will be reduced until the temperature cools down below 100 °C. Every ESC is QC tested in the factory.
The Skywing controllers are equipped with a high quality step down voltage converter which reduces the BEC current consumption (in idle mode, the ESC remains cold). This feature is important if the ESC is used in electric gliders. Compared to controllers with linear voltage control, the flight time will be significantly extended.
